Ruckus House Team

Ruckus House is the result of the vision and dedication of a team of dedicated professionals. The ownership team consists of four professional football players (Mike Minter, Mike Rucker, Stephen Davis and Muhsin Muhammad), and Joe Murphy and Bob Burkett of J&B Development of Concord, NC.

Mike Minter
Former Carolina Panthers Defensive Back

Mike Minter’s contributions to the Carolina Panthers were considerable. A Panthers in the second round pick of the 1997 draft, Minter became the team’s all-time leader in forced fumbles and ranked among the squad’s leading tacklers almost every season he played.

Inspired by the teachings of the Apostle Paul, Minter has seen that rejoicing in his weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:10) allows him to see the power of God in his life. “The closer you get to Him the more you see the weaknesses that you have,” added Minter. He has had several years to gain this perspective. It was during his junior year in college, in the midst of experiencing great on-field success while helping Nebraska notch consecutive national championships, that Minter saw the need for making Jesus Christ his personal Savior. Just as Minter is always looking for ways to improve his football technique and become a better player, he is also seeking the counsel of the Lord to become the person that God has called him to be.

Mike served as his team's spokesperson for the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. He has been the keynote speaker for numerous corporate functions and as an aspiring pastor, has also spoken at many local churches. In addition to the Ruckus House, he is quite involved during the off-season managing a range of personal businesses across the nation. In 2008, Mike began his first season as head coach at First Assembly High School.

He received his degree in engineering from Nebraska in December 1996. In addition to starting at free safety for Lawton (OK) HS, Mike led the state with 1,589 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns on 187 carries his senior year. He also averaged 21 points in basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society. Minter was born in Cleveland, OH. He and his wife, Kim, have four children and live in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Mike Rucker
Former Carolina Panthers Defensive End

In his 9 years with the Panthers as the right Defensive End, Mike broke the team sack record previously held by Kevin Greene. Mike played in the 2003 Pro Bowl following the Panthers first appearance in the Super Bowl. Mike continued to break records and make solid plays on the football field until retiring before the 2008 season.

Raised in Missouri with a strong family background, Mike has seen first hand the benefits of making a difference in his community. Several years into Mike’s professional football career, he began to look into other business endeavors to prepare him for his years following the NFL. In the 2003 off-season, he interned with the construction department of Shea Homes. In 2004, he had a brief internship with Pepsi Co. and then in 2005, he developed some insight into the Charlotte Bobcats, the arena development and the business endeavors of owner Bob Johnson. On the heels of the Ruckus House Mike has begun another business: Vision Group Realty.

Mike also believes in giving to non-profit organizations as well. At his heart is the “Pinstripes” organization or ALS. He continues to give financially to this organization as well as attend functions throughout the year. Mike has also been involved for several years with the Muscle Team Event for MDA. He enjoys the evenings he gets to spend with a child who has been diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and their family. Mike has also been involved with Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Bible Teaching Clubs of Cabarrus County, the Lead Safe program, Hendrick Marrow Program and serves on the board of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Foundation which recently purchased DNA equipment to solve cold cases.

Mike and his family moved to the Kannapolis area in 2005. They were looking for a place to settle down, get involved in a smaller community, support the local schools and programs and yet still have easy access to Charlotte and the other surrounding communities. Keep a look out for Mike Rucker. Once you meet him, you will feel you have met a great business associate, professional athlete, a man of character, and most of all, a friend.

Stephen Davis
Former Redskins, Panthers, and Rams Running Back

Davis played three years (1993, 1994, and 1995) for Auburn University, starting in his sophomore year. He made the All-SEC team his last two seasons, and graduated as the team’s fourth all-time leading rusher behind Joe Cribbs, James Brooks, and Bo Jackson. He was also a letterman for all three seasons.

Davis was taken in the fourth round in the 1996 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. Davis was primarily used as a full back, and was part of the Redskins’ backfield with Terry Allen. He spent three seasons as a backup and fullback before getting the starting nod at the start of the 1999 NFL season. This was Davis’ breakout season, when he posted career highs, and ended up representing the NFC in the Pro Bowl. He led the NFC in yards rushing with 1,405, and league in yards per carry (4.8). He was also the league’s leading non-kicking scorer, posting 108 points on 17 touchdowns and one two-point conversion. He continued to post high numbers the following season en route to his second straight Pro Bowl selections.

Davis signed with the Carolina Panthers for the start of the 2003 NFL season, and was a catalyst in leading the team to Super Bowl XXXVIII. Davis rushed for a career-high 1,444 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. He also finished in the top three for the NFL MVP voting that year. Davis led all rushers in the postseason with 315 yards. Unfortunately for Davis, he suffered an injury early the following season, and was one of fourteen Panthers in injured reserve. He was also on the injured list early in the 2005 season, but came back off the bench after a few games and set team rushing records before forced to sit out the remainder of the season with nagging knee injuries. In 2006, Davis was offered a contract with the Saint Louis Rams where he played one season. In 2008, Stephen signed a one-day contract with the Panthers and retired.

Davis is married to wife, Virgina, and they have 3 daughters and one son. They reside in Irmo, South Carolina where Stephen is active in coaching his son in footbal among other business endeavors.

Muhsin Muhammad attended Waverly Senior High School in Lansing, Michigan. While there, he excelled in athletics, earning three letters in football, and an additional two in basketball and track. Furthermore, he not only defined himself as a threat as receiver, but also as an all-state linebacker and running back. After graduating from high school, Muhammad enrolled into Michigan State University.

Muhammad was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft. Muhammad exploded onto the scene, averaging nearly 1000 yards each season from the 1998 to2000 NFL season.

During the 2001 season, Muhammad was plagued by injuries, but he managed to recover his form the following season. He would later play a leading role in the Carolina Panthers’ run to Super Bowl XXXVIII during 2003 NFL season. Muhammad would go on to have an excellent 2004 season, leading the NFL with a career high, 1,405 receiving yards, and 16 receiving touchdowns. To compliment this he would also go to earn a Pro Bowl invitation.

By the end of the 2004 season, Muhammad held all of the Panthers’ receiving records, including catches (578), receiving yards (7,751), 100-yard games (26), the top three single-game yardage totals (192, 189,179) and was tied with Wesley Walls at 44 touchdown receptions. He was offered a contract from the Chicago Bears, where he played 3 years and returned to Carolina.

Muhammad is currently married to his wife, Christa, and has four daughters and three sons.

He has also been greatly recognized for his work outside of football, contributing much of his time and resources to help the lesser fortunate. Muhammad has created his own charity foundation called, The M2 Foundation for Kids”, which is dedicated to enhancing the educational, mental, and physical development of children. Also, Muhammad promoted the “Back to Nature” program, a special camping trip which encouraged children to spend more time with nature. He has been a long time supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Charlotte. He also serves as a spokesperson for the Men for Change organization; a group which helps generates money for impoverished women’s shelters. Muhsin has recently signed on to become the spokesperson for the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.

Joe Murphy
J&B Development

Joseph Murphy is founder of Murphy Realty, a two-person office established in 1971 which rapidly grew to become one of New Jersey's largest real estate companies. In 1978, Better Homes & Gardens, a division of Fortune 500 Meredith Corp., selected Murphy Realty to become its first member in the Northeast region. In 1988, Murphy Realty was acquired by a division of Cendant Corporation, one of the nation's largest real estate companies.

Committed to his profession, Murphy was an advocate and provider of free training for new sales associates at a time when real estate licensing preparation schools did not exist. In the mid-1980s, Murphy co-authored three national real estate systems — the Better Homes & Gardens Home Marketing, Home Buying and Home Information Systems. These were purchased by Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Service for use throughout the United States.

Murphy was a leader and participant in countless community campaigns and drives in New Jersey. For example, he was a board member of the Tomorrows Children's Fund at Hackensack University Medical Center. In addition, Murphy was recognized by the New Jersey State Senate in the late 1980s for his efforts to counter drug abuse through the use of billboards throughout the state.

Murphy earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a member of the basketball, soccer and track teams and was inducted into the FDU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
